The Garden of Sacred songs
An Art film & original contemporaty music
by Kyoka Tsukamoto
A multi-media installation project “Sacred Garden” is now becoming a feature-length art film, “The Garden of Sacred Songs” with immersive sound design using DOLBY ATMOS technology.
Consisted of 15 pieces of contemporary music, the poetic film will offer an artistic experience that connects us to the Divine, a meditative space where the participants are spiritually aligned to the wonderfulness of the sacred nature.
Inspired by the ancient sacred songs from the Japanese creation myth Kojiki, Tsukamoto have composed a series of contemporary classical music, that will re-establish a healthier connection between our spirit, mind, heart, soul and body.
The film is a visual interpretation of the music conceived at the gardens; it conveys the flow of consciousness which observes the mysterious life cycle that we are part of. We follow the protagonists such as bees, collecting nectar for honey without knowing that its true purpose is pollination. They guide us into the mysteries of nature, while posing us an internal question on our own existence in the world. Are we also going after the fragrance of flowers and hunting for honey, without knowing our raison d’être?
Seven years after a feature-length essay film, “My Dearest Sister,” Kyoka Tsukamoto brings a new creation, a multimedia installation project supported by the Canada Council for the Arts; an art film with 15 pieces of contemporary music that she accumulated over the years.
An initial cine-concert event at le Gesù with invited musicians at the festival Nuit blanche à Montréal attracted more than 3400 visitors on March 1st 2025. The characteristics of the church, a large echo and reverb inherently “immersive”, was the point of departure for the new creation; 3D sound design using Dolby Atmos technology will make a modern meditative space at a gallery, a museum and theaters in the Spring 2026!
One of the pieces in “The Garden of Sacred Songs” was composed on the special grand piano at Jardins de Métis in the Winter 2024.
